About SaloArte 2012
The first SaloArte was held in July 2012 and was very well attended by artists from all over Andalucía and the public. The Inauguration was introduced by Helen Mc Cormack, President of the International Club Salobreña and director of SaloArte. The Mayor, D. Gonzalo Fernandez Pulido gave a very thought-provoking speech on Mediterranean culture, history and the importance of Salobreña Castle in the past and its present contribution to Cultural Tourism.
SaloArte was very honoured to have Don Federico Mayor Zaragoza inaugurate SaloArte. His speech praised our intercultural event and stressed the importance of culture in promoting peace and deepening understanding among peoples of different nationalities and backgrounds. He also stressed the importance of promoting culture in times of economic crisis and that culture is itself a source of economic development. Federico Mayor Zaragoza spoke with all the 20 artists exhibiting in SaloArte showing a lively and sincere interest in their work; expressing that SaloArte deserved to become an annual event in the Andalucian cultural calendar.
As always, we count on the cooperation of the Area de Cultura y Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Salobreña and the blessing of the Mayor D. Gonzalo Fernandez Pulido.
